Equipment that supports ability and independence.
I work collaboratively with service providers, support coordinators, and allied health professionals to complete comprehensive assistive technology assessments, reports, and equipment recommendations.
This includes clinical trials conducted in both service provider settings and participants’ homes to ensure equipment is safe, practical, and suitable for real-world use.
I have strong experience working within the NDIS framework, providing timely, goal-focused documentation that supports funding applications and promotes functional independence.
All recommendations are evidence-based and tailored to the participant’s needs, environment, and long-term goals, with a strong emphasis on usability and functional outcomes in daily life.
Assessment of suitability for mobility and independence, including consideration of manual (folding versus rigid frame options) and powered wheelchair configurations. Focus includes postural support, seating and control systems, and ease of use within home and community environments. Recommendations are tailored to individual functional needs, physical capacity, and environmental demands, with the aim of maximising safety, comfort, independence, and participation in daily activities.
assessment of suitability and compatibility across a range of power assist options, including rear-mounted systems (e.g. SmartDrive, Alber SMOOV), front-end attachments, and power assist wheels (e.g. Twion). Focus is on reducing pushing effort and fatigue, supporting safe and efficient propulsion, and improving mobility across home and community environments. Recommendations are tailored to individual terrain demands, daily travel requirements, and user control, with the aim of increasing independence, comfort, and participation in everyday activities.
Assessment of suitability for sport and recreational participation, including chair configuration, seating position, stability, and propulsion requirements specific to the chosen activity. Focus includes ensuring appropriate fit, control, and safety across training, competition, and community environments, with the aim of supporting performance, confidence, and participation in sport and leisure activities.
Assessment of suitability for accessible recreation and off-road mobility, considering seating support, control options, and terrain access. Focused on supporting participation in community activities, outdoor recreation, and building independence in a safe and supported way.
Assessment of appropriate configuration, positioning, and transfer requirements to support safe toileting, hygiene needs, and ease of use within the home environment.
Assessment of bed height, profiling functions, and pressure management needs to support safe transfers, positioning, bed mobility, and independence with daily routines.
Assessment of suitability including height adjustment, braking systems, and safety features to support safe mobility, balance, and independence both indoors and outdoors.
Assessment of pressure care needs, comfort, and postural support to reduce the risk of pressure injury and support improved sleep quality. Options may include foam, hybrid, or alternating air mattresses depending on clinical and functional requirements.
assessment of seating needs, posture, and skin integrity to support safe and comfortable sitting throughout the day. Options may include foam, hybrid, or air cushions tailored to individual pressure care and functional requirements.
